We condemn in the strongest possible terms the twin blasts which claimed the lives of our valiant soldiers and innocent civilians, and brought chaos to the streets of Jolo, Sulu.
We extend our deepest sympathies to the victims and their families. No one deserves such a painful and violent death, especially in the hands of individuals whose only aim is to sow fear, hatred and terror.
While we are fighting to overcome the challenges spawned by the COVID-19 pandemic, these heartless perpetrators continue to carry out such brutal, soulless acts.
We join our brothers and sisters in Jolo in their cry for justice, as we urge everyone to remain calm but vigilant as authorities complete their investigation on the incidents.
These terrorists will attempt to sow discord, create confusion and break our spirit. They are terribly mistaken. These attacks will only serve to embolden us, strengthen our will, and bring us together as a people.
Most of all, these attacks will not deter us from achieving our collective goal; to break the cycle of violence in Sulu, and bring just and lasting peace to the island-province.
Rest assured that the perpetrators of these dastardly acts shall be brought to justice and be held accountable for the crimes they have committed against the people of Sulu and all Filipinos.
Now, more than ever, let us stand together against terrorism, against such senseless acts of violence, and against humanity. ###
