GRP, NDF seal guidelines for joint monitoring committee, score victory
ROME, Italy – The Government of the Philippines and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) signed on Saturday, January 21, the supplemental guidelines for the full operation of the Joint Monitoring Committee (JMC) under the Comprehensive Agreement on Respect for Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law (CARHRIHL), moving the peace negotiations another step towards final peace settlement.

Almost five months ago, in August of last year, we embarked on resuming our negotiations which to many, after almost three decades of peace talks, seem to be intractable and more so, immovable to others.
Third Round of GRP-NDF Peace Talks
The third round of peace talks between the government of the Philippines and National Democratic Front opened on 19 January 207 at Holiday Inn Parco Dei Medici in Rome, Italy, with plenty of optimism.

Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process, Secretary Jesus Jess Dureza, welcomes the official delegates of the Government of the Republic of the Philippines composed of the peace panel members, working committee chairs, members and consultants, panel advisers and secretariat to the third round of peace talks with the National Democratic Front. This round will cover the more substantive parts of the negotiations – socio-economic reforms and political and constitutional reforms.
