It is with deep sadness that we bid our last respects to one of the beacons of peace in Muslim Mindanao, our Brother Abdul “Cong” R. Sahrin, deputy chief minister for the island provinces of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

A veteran commander of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) in Tawi-Tawi, Brother Cong, also known as “Hassan Jawali” was a member of “Batch 300” and among the most trusted leaders of the organization. He would later become one of our most valued peace partners, as he played an instrumental role in pushing forward the Bangsamoro peace process, and helping realize the dreams and aspirations of the Moro people.
The men and women of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) are one with Brother Cong’s family, friends and comrades in mourning his passing. He will always be remembered for the legacy he has left behind — for the sake of peace and for the sake of Allah (SWT).
May the Almighty Allah (SWT) reward Brother Cong for his good deeds, expiate his sins, and grant him Janatul Firdaus.
Magsukul, Brother Cong!
