Joint Statement on the Passage of the Bangsamoro Autonomy Act No. 35

JOINT STATEMENT

Assalamualaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh

We extend our warmest congratulations to the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Parliament for the passage of the Bangsamoro Autonomy Act No. 35, otherwise known as the Bangsamoro Electoral Code, on March 08, 2023.

The unanimous enactment of the Electoral Code with 64 affirmative votes, 0 negative votes, and 0 abstentions reflects the strong commitment and unity of the BTA to provide a law that would enable a peaceful and credible elections in 2025 and beyond.

Marcos administration vows continued, strong support to Bangsamoro peace process

PASAY CITY (23 February 2023) – The Marcos Administration reaffirmed its full support to the Bangsamoro peace process, especially in helping uplift the lives of former Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) combatants and their families, and develop their areas into peaceful, progressive and resilient communities.

“Today is another demonstration of this administration’s commitment to taking material steps in ensuring that our countrymen in the Bangsamoro Region have their share of justice, peace and development,” said Special Assistant to the President, Secretary Antonio Ernesto F. Lagdameo, Jr. on Thursday during the 9th meeting of the Inter-Cabinet Cluster Committee Mechanism on Normalization (ICCMN), the first to be held under the current administration.
