MESSAGE OF SEC. CARLITO G. GALVEZ, JR., PRESIDENTIAL ADVISER ON PEACE, RECONCILIATION, AND UNITY FOR THE COMMEMORATION OF THE ELEVENTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE SIGNING OF THE COMPREHENSIVE AGREEMENT ON THE BANGSAMORO (CAB)

Assalamualaikum warahmatullahi wabarakatuh!

Greetings of peace to our Bangsamoro brothers and sisters and to all our fellow peacebuilders and peace advocates who have supported the successful implementation of the Bangsamoro peace process.

Today marks 11 years since the Government of the Philippines and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) signed the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) on March 27, 2014.

More than a document, the CAB is an embodiment of the hopes and dreams of the Bangsamoro people; a realization of their collective aspiration to chart the future of their beloved homeland.

The landmark peace deal is a testament that such agreements can be successfully implemented if they are anchored on the principles of inclusivity, equality, and social justice.

In a few months, the political track of the CAB will be completed with the conduct of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao’s first-ever regular parliamentary elections.

This political exercise will allow the Bangsamoro people to elect leaders who they believe are truly deserving of the positions they are vying for, and will mark the beginning of the Bangsamoro region’s full and genuine political autonomy.

The Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity stands committed to President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.’s unwavering support the Bangsamoro peace process.

We commend and thank the MILF leadership and your people for their unwavering commitment to the Bangsamoro peace process, and for walking side by side with the national government in this remarkable peace journey.

We also extend our deepest gratitude to all peace partners and stakeholders – local government units, civil society, academe, religious community and the security sector – for the invaluable support you have provided to the national government’s peace agenda.

Together, under the banner of the Marcos Jr.’s administration’s banner of unity, let us sustain and preserve the gains of peace, progress and stability, and ensure that they are felt by future generations of Filipinos.

Mabuhay ang CAB! Mabuhay ang prosesong pangkapayapaan sa Bangsamoro! Mabuhay ang Bagong Pilipinas! Shukran!

Joint Statement of MPs Amir Mawallil and Ras Mitmug

February 22, 2024 will commemorate our five-year anniversary as members of the interim Bangsamoro Government. It has been half a decade since we pledged our commitment to serve in the Bangsamoro Transition Authority.

The strides that the Government’s peace negotiations have made, including the ratification of the Bangsamoro Organic Law, would not have happened if not for the stakeholders who sacrificed and dedicated their time and efforts to making this a solid reality.

One of these people is Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., whose integrity has been proven above reproach in his efforts to help us build a strong and autonomous Bangsamoro region. Sec. Charlie, as we fondly call him is an ally and a friend of the people of the Bangsamoro.

He has consistently demonstrated his sincerity in pursuing peace in Mindanao. Despite the challenges we have faced, Sec. Charlie has been a steadfast advocate for peace, tirelessly working towards the realization of our aspirations for a peaceful and prosperous Bangsamoro.

His integrity as a public servant is beyond reproach, and his sincerity in pursuing peace has never wavered.

As we commemorate the fifth anniversary of our tenure in the interim Bangsamoro Government, let us reaffirm our commitment to peace and development in Mindanao.

MESSAGE OF SEC. CARLITO G. GALVEZ, JR. PRESIDENTIAL ADVISER ON PEACE, RECONCILIATION AND UNITY ON THE OBSERVANCE OF AL-ISRA WAL MI’RAJ

The men and women of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity join the members of the Muslim faith as you observe Al-Isra Wal Mi’raj. This sacred occasion holds deep significance, reminding us of the remarkable journey that Prophet Muhammad took from Al-Masjid Al-Haram (Makkah) to Al-Masjid Al-Aqsa.

May this occasion be a time of personal introspection. Let us be inspired by the Prophet’s journey, as we promote peace, mutual understanding, and compassion within our communities and beyond. His example teaches us the importance of kindness, tolerance, and respect for one another amidst our cultural and religious differences.

As we reflect on the lessons from Al-Isra Wal Mi’raj, let us reaffirm our commitment to fostering harmony, friendship and goodwill among everyone. Let us go beyond our personal interests and reach out to our neighbors, especially those who are most in need, and help them in whatever way we can. Let us be the tide that lifts all boats.

May this blessed occasion serve as a reminder of the virtues of peace, solidarity, and goodness that lie at the core of the Islamic faith. Let us embrace these principles and apply them in our daily lives so that we can create a world where all people can live in dignity, harmony, and mutual respect.

We wish our Muslim brothers and sisters a joyous Al-Isra Wal Mi’raj that is filled with blessings, peace, and spiritual enlightenment. ###
