Basilan to pilot Localized implementation of Normalization Program

Bangsamoro Task Force expands membership, addresses Rido; body shores up investments for Polloc Port

Mindanao religious leaders converge, pledge support to PH peace process

COTABATO CITY — Mindanao’s religious leaders gathered here from January 16 to 17 to express their common vision for peace and issue a joint statement on the Mindanao State University-Marawi bombing incident in December of last year.

A transformative turn at the age of 60: A story of hope and perseverance

Abubakar, 60, looks back on how he had spent much of his life engaged in armed struggle.

However, as peace gradually settled in Mindanao, the former Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) combatant saw an opportunity for change and decided to turn his life around when the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB), was struck between the Government of the Philippines and MILF in 2014.

The historic peace agreement brought an end to decades of violence and opened avenues for reconciliation and development in the Bangsamoro. (more…)

Sec Galvez: Building on the momentum of the comprehensive peace process

MANILA — The Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU) shall continue to build on and sustain the momentum of the peace gains achieved in 2023.

This, as Presidential Peace Adviser Secretary Carlito G. Galvez, Jr. thanked and commended OPAPRU personnel for the crucial role they have played in achieving the major milestones in the comprehensive Philippine peace process in the past year.

In his remarks during the OPAPRU’s first New Year’s Call monthly General Assembly on Monday, January 8. Galvez emphasized the need for the agency to reach out to the Filipino people and actively involve them in the peacebuilding process.

“Mahalaga ang ginagawa [natin] para maging matahimik at mapayapa ang bayang Pilipinas”, he said. (more…)
