We, the men and women of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation and Unity, congratulate Sec. Carlito G. Galvez, Jr., for his recent appointment as Secretary of National Defense.
We are happy that he will be taking on a job that is also close to his heart, having served as a military officer for more than 30 years.
We believe that his tenure as peace adviser has prepared him for the post of defense secretary, as the peacebuilding work he has carried out will guide him, as he leads the DND in ensuring the nation’s peace and security.
This is what makes Sec. Galvez special, and that is, his ability to effectively lead organizations not only through his extra-ordinary skills, knowledge and experience as a soldier, but more importantly, through an uncompromising moral compass.
During the course of two administrations, we witnessed how Sec. Galvez has transformed from a seasoned military official to an outstanding peacebuilder and peace champion. We have no doubt that he will continue to carry out this role albeit in a different capacity.
To Sec. Galvez, we wish you all the best, as you start another major chapter in your career as a civil servant. We are all behind you, as you take on the mantle of defense secretary. We are very proud of you.
