MARAWI CITY – Early Sunday morning, Peace Corridor volunteers from government and Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) retrieved 4 more trapped civilians in the conflict area here in the city, making it a total of 221.

The civilians include three Maranaos, and one Christian. They were retrieved in Bangolo area in coordination with the Armed Forces of the Philippines units under Gen. Carlito Galvez, Commander of the Western Mindanao Command.

They were immediately processed by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) for their identities.

Ms. Hanifa Ampuan of the DepEd – ARMM, wife of one of the retrieved civilians started coordinating with the Joint Coordination, Monitoring, and Assistance Center (JCMAC) volunteers on 10 June 2017 for the whereabouts of her husband and his companions.

The civilians have been trapped at Brgy. Moncado Colony, Marawi City since the start of the conflict.

They were transferred in the medical clinic in Capitol Grounds of the city and are currently being given medical assistance.
