The 4th EU Ambassadors’ Forum (EAF) was held earlier today, 25 November 2016, to discuss the Philippines’ Peace and Development Roadmap. This is the first EAF organized under the Duterte administration.

The forum was attended by diplomats from around 20 EU member countries. Norwegian Foreign Minister Børge Brende was the forum’s guest of honor. In his message, he expressed confidence in the political will of the new administration.

“Under the leadership of President Duterte and Secretary Dureza, we have seen a new momentum. It’s a historic opportunity for the Philippines to end conflict and to move forward,” he said.

In response, Sec. Dureza profusely thanked the EU, especially the Norwegian government, for their unwavering support to the peace process.

“I would like to thank the Norwegian government and all the EU who have been helpful in our work for peace and development in our land. The strong support of our partners have kept us behaving in the peace table,” he said.

EAF is a venue for the Philippine government to give a briefing on timely topics of mutual interest and to exchange views with the Ambassadors of European countries.
