September 16, 2016 – The World Bank, through their Regional Vice President Victoria Kwaka, expressed their support to the Philippine peace process during a meeting with Presidential Peace Adviser Jesus Jess Dureza and other officials of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) at the Marco Polo Hotel in Davao City on 16 September 2016.

“For us in the World Bank, we are really honored to have the chance to work with you and other stakeholders to help move the agenda of peace and development in Mindanao forward,” Ms. Kwaka said. “You have an opportunity to really do something important and to make a huge difference not just in Mindanao, but in the whole country,” she added.

During the meeting, World Bank and OPAPP discussed the updates on the government’s Roadmap for Peace and Development, and how the World Bank could best assist the government in implementing the roadmap.

Secretary Dureza expressed his gratitude for the continued support of the World Bank in pursuing peace and development in the country. “First, let me thank World Bank. You have been with us for a long time. The successes we have now are products of our work and understanding of the mistakes committed in the past. Learning from those, we now know how to move forward,” he said. #TayoAngPagbabago #TayoAngKapayapaan
