The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Peace Implementing Panel joins in the celebration of the National Peace Consciousness Month 2016, and congratulates the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process on its 23rd Anniversary.

This celebration is, indeed, close to our hearts as we continue our quest for just and lasting peace in Mindanao. Given how far we have come in the journey for peace through the GPH-MILF peace process, moving forward with activities that advocate for, encourage and promote the understanding of this whole exercise is always timely and fitting.

I cannot begin to overly emphasize how difficult the journey has been, and I do not only refer to the MILF. Our partners in the Government of the Philippines would most certainly share the same sentiments.

Peace work is a complex thing. Among others, this means sacrificing some luxuries in life, such as, time spent with family and sleeping long hours with no care in the world. Peace work keeps us on our feet. It keeps us stay focused on the noble purpose of giving our next generation a more secure and hopeful future. It is, in all aspects, a career that challenges the body, mind and spirit.

Over the years, the MILF has always led peace advocacies and campaigns in furtherance of the Bangsamoro peace process. We commit to continue to spread awareness and consciousness because we recognize the need to imbibe among all stakeholders the essence of peace, and to build their capacities to be peace heroes in their own right, for peace and heroism are powerful, positive and engaging themes.
